Wild West Day Event at the Piedmont Saddle Club |

HORSEPOWER Therapeutic Learning Center will host its Wild West Day event on Saturday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Piedmont Saddle Club, located at 8001 Leabourne Road in Colfax. 

Wild West Day is a family-oriented, action packed event featuring western-themed performances, activities and games. 

The Double L Bar Shooters Club out of Raleigh will be hosting a Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association sanctioned competition. 

According to the CMSA, “Cowboy Mounted Shooting is the fastest growing equestrian sport in the nation.  Mounted contestants compete in this fast action timed event using two .45 caliber single action revolvers each loaded with five rounds of specially prepared blank ammunition.” 

“We invite all families and individuals from the community to join us for what promises to be a thrilling show,” said Jan Clifford, Executive Director of HORSEPOWER.  “There will be trick riding performances, roping demonstrations, and tons of games and activities!” 

Guests are invited to enjoy classic games like Cornhole, Washer Toss, Sack Races, relay races, and arts and crafts. 

Admission costs $5 for guests over six-years-old.  An affordable, cookout-style lunch will be available at the event. 

All proceeds from the event goes towards scholarships and reduced fees for over 300 children and adults with disabilities who participate in the HORSEPOWER program each year.
